From ancient Thracian mysteries and Orphic rites to early Christian basilicas and today’s active temples, the spirit of faith has lived on in this city blessed with healing springs. ⛪ Highlights of Faith in Hisarya:

  • “Dormition of the Theotokos” Orthodox Church – Located in the Momina Banya district, built in 1883. Declared a cultural monument in 1975. Celebrates its feast on August 15 with a local gathering.
  • “St. Panteleimon” Orthodox Church – Situated in the town center, built in 1889. Features stunning murals depicting biblical stories.
  • “St. Demetrius” Orthodox Church – The oldest in Hisarya, located in the Verigovo district (1845–1850). Burned during the April Uprising in 1882. Commemorated on October 26 with a town-wide celebration.
  • Catholic Church “Holy Family of Nazareth” – The newest church in Hisarya, completed in 2005.
  • Catholic Church “Sts. Peter and Paul” – Located in the Miromir district, founded in 1882 by Father Carlos and Father Pavel Caccia.
  • Hisarya Mosque – Built in 1464 during Ottoman rule. Though it was burned, the minaret remains and is now open to visitors during the summer.
